Bandung, May 26 2026. The journey to graduation is a challenging yet rewarding path, and for 8th-semester students, the finish line is finally in sight. To ensure students are fully equipped for their final academic hurdle, the Communication Science Department recently held a comprehensive TOEFL Preparation program.

This specialized event was designed specifically for final-year students, serving as a crucial stepping stone toward their undergraduate thesis.

A Vital Requirement for the Undergraduate Thesis

Before students can officially register for and begin working on their undergraduate thesis (skripsi), they must meet several academic prerequisites. One of the most important of these is achieving a standardized minimum score on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language).

The Communication Science Department mandates this requirement to ensure that all graduates possess a competitive level of English proficiency. This is essential not only for reading international academic journals during their thesis research but also for preparing them for the demands of the global workforce.

Empowering Students for Success

Understanding that language testing can be a point of anxiety for many, the department organized this preparation event to provide students with the strategies and confidence they need to succeed.

The preparation sessions focused on the core components of the TOEFL exam, including:

  • Listening Comprehension: Training students to understand spoken English in academic and everyday contexts, from short dialogues to longer university lectures.

  • Structure and Written Expression: Reviewing essential grammar rules and teaching students how to quickly identify structural errors in written English.

  • Reading Comprehension: Equipping students with skimming, scanning, and vocabulary-in-context strategies to effectively tackle dense academic texts.

“The goal of this preparation is not just to help students pass a test, but to give them the tools they need to comfortably navigate international literature for their thesis research.” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manap Solihat, Drs., M.Si, Head of Department.

The event saw high enthusiasm from the 8th-semester cohort, who actively engaged with the practice materials and instructors. By providing this targeted support, the Communication Science Department continues its commitment to student success and high academic standards.

With the TOEFL preparation now complete, these students are one step closer to achieving their target scores, beginning their thesis research, and ultimately, earning their degree in Communication Science.

We wish all 8th-semester students the best of luck on their upcoming TOEFL exams and their undergraduate thesis journey!
