One of the Merdeka campus programs is carrying out thematic real-work lecture activities. On August 3, 2023, there was a release of students who would take part in the Thematic Real Work Lecture activities. This KKN activity was attended by six students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences who would be divided into two locations, namely the Village located in Karawang district and the Village located in Ciamis.

The Inauguration activity was attended by the Dean of FISIP, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lilis Puspitawati, SE., M.Si., AK.CA., Assoc. Communication Science Department. Prof. Dr. Melly Maulin, P., S.Sos., M.Sc., head of the Government Science Department, Dr. Nia Karniawati, S.IP., M.Si., and the head of the International Relations Department, Dr. Dewi Triwahyuni, S.IP., M.Si., and UNIKOM’s Director of Student Affairs, Andrias Darmayadi, S.IP., M.Sc., Ph.D., who will also be a mentor in this Thematic KKN activity. The inauguration activity began with remarks from the FISIP dean, which were then followed by messages from the head of the study program to the Thematic KKN participants.

As for one communication science student who had the opportunity to take part in this KKNT program, namely Risyandi Prihaditama, Risyandi is a Communication Science student who is currently studying in semester 5, and he revealed that he and his group from other study programs had prepared a work program that was interesting for the village where they carry out this KKN activity, one of which is activities related to digital media. Risyandi was placed in Curug Village, Karawang Regency, for one and a half months.

This thematic KKN activity is carried out as a form of Learning Activity (BKP) that hones the soft skills of cross-disciplinary partnerships and collaboration as well as student leadership in managing development programs in rural areas. The purpose of this activity is to provide opportunities for students to utilize their knowledge, technology, and skills in collaboration with many stakeholders in the field through student involvement and to help accelerate development in rural areas.
