On July 17, 2023, UNIKOM’s Director of Student Affairs, Andrias Darmayadi, S.IP., M.Si, held a seminar that took place in the Miracle Auditorium, Floor 4, UNIKOM Campus 1. This seminar has the theme “Comparison of Indonesian and South Korean Nationalism: National Historical Experiences”.

The seminar was opened by the Director of Student Affairs and the chief organizer of this activity, attended by participants from BEM, HIMA, and UKM, and moderated by one of our communication science lecturers, Tine Wulandari, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom. The seminar was very interesting because it presented a speaker named Lim Kyung Nam, a South Korean citizen who has lived in Indonesia for 10 years.

The speaker talked about the history of South Korea, starting from the beginning of military service carried out by every adult male in South Korea, so that military service could create a sense of nationalism for South Korean citizens. Lim Kyung Nam also contacted his friend from Korea named Quoo, who has also lived in Indonesia for a long time, via the Zoom meeting application. Quoo told how he was proud of the nationalism of Indonesian citizens and was very interested in Indonesian culture.

Therefore, it is hoped that through this activity, the participants who attended, especially the administrators of organizations such as BEM, HIMA, and UKM, amidst the onslaught of the influx of South Korean culture into Indonesia, can continue to increase their sense of nationalism towards the Indonesian nation, our own nation.
