Bandung, January 29, 2026 – Expanding horizons is not enough just in the classroom. This spirit is what the Broadcasting Team of the Communication Science Study Program at the Indonesian Computer University (Unikom), Comm.Science Broadcast, brought during their study visit to the Yogyakarta Multimedia School of Higher Education (STMM).

The activity titled “Learning by Traveling” was successfully held from January 25 to 28, 2026. Not just a trip, this journey became an academic mission to directly observe the broadcasting industry standards at one of the best multimedia campuses in Indonesia.

Why STMM Yogyakarta?
STMM Yogyakarta, formerly known as MMTC, was chosen as the main destination due to its reputation as a crucible for professionals in the field of broadcasting and multimedia. For the members of Comm.Science Broadcast, this visit is a golden opportunity to benchmark the materials learned at Unikom campus against the practices and facilities available at the multimedia vocational education institution.

Exploration of the Production Kitchen During the visit to the STMM campus located on Jalan Magelang, the Comm.Science Broadcast group was warmly welcomed by STMM representatives. The event included a comprehensive campus tour.

The students were invited to see firsthand various industry-standard broadcasting facilities, starting from:

Television Studio: Observing studio management, lighting, and camera setup.

Master Control Room (MCR): Understanding the transmission flow and technical aspects behind the scenes.

Radio Studio: Discussing broadcasting techniques and audio production.

“This visit opened our eyes to how strict broadcasting standard operating procedures (SOP) are implemented.” Many technical and production management skills can be adapted for future Comm.Science Broadcast programs,” said Hany Widiani Putri, a representative from Comm.Science Broadcast.

The Essence of “Learning by Traveling” In line with the theme being carried, this activity combines elements of education and recreation. Beside absorbing knowledge at STMM, this four-day trip to Yogyakarta was also utilized to strengthen the chemistry among team members.

The world of broadcasting is a world of teamwork. Thru this journey together, solidarity and communication among the crew are expected to become even more solid. Yogyakarta, with all its local wisdom, serves as the perfect backdrop for Unikom Communication Science students to learn about culture, social interaction, and of course, to refresh their minds before returning to their work.

Hope for the Future The return of the Comm.Science Broadcast team to Bandung was not empty-handed. Various new insights, visual references, and a spirit of collaboration gained from Yogyakarta are expected to enhance the quality of broadcast works within the Communication Science Study Program at Unikom.

See you on the next Learning by Traveling journey!
